Stage 1 includes three high-rise residential buildings, the CityLights
cooperative building and two rental buildings constructed by AvalonBay (1,600
housing units). Stage 1 also includes a public school, P.S. 78 (pre-kindergarten
through grade 5), streets and utilities, and approximately four acres of public
parkland, including Gantry Plaza State Park, Hunters Point Community Park, and
Peninsula Park. Riverview Gardens, which provides below-market housing for
senior citizens, is also located in Stage 1.
Also in Stage 1 is Parcel 8, the future home of a local public library. Plans
are underway to complete environmental remediation of Parcel 8 within the next
year, prior to the start of construction by
Queens Public Library.
